Digital Marketing is simply marketing using media that happens to be online. SEO is a process to move a website higher in the list of results on search engines. While some would consider SEO a type of digital marketing, that’s really pushing the definition a little far. SEO could be considered a tiny part of digital marketing just as one book is part of an entire library. You wouldn’t call a book a library, and wouldn’t call SEO digital marketing.

SEO and digital marketing are two separate but related things. It’s important to invest in both of them in a way that works for your business. If you’re starting from scratch, many digital marketers focus on testing first and determining which channels and combinations of channels work best for specific industries and business offerings. Digital Marketing includes things like Pay-Per-Click Advertising, Social Media, Search Engine Marketing, Email Marketing, and so on.
